Cuil Worked! Sort Of.

Posted by n3rvp4in on August 5, 2008

I decided to try out Cuil again today to see if they had made any improvements.  I searched for the term “nerve pain”.  Not an uncommon search term for myself.  It gave results this time, but the first results were for one of those online pharmacies trying to sell Tramadol.  I would think that it would be in their best benifit to make sure that these type of results don’t show up first. When I attempted the same search with Google, no pharmacies in at least the first page of results.  The ads did include some sites about medications and vitamins though.

Google Searching

Posted by n3rvp4in on December 13, 2007

Have you ever sat and watched another person search for something on Google?  Man is that about the most frustrating thing in the world.  Okay, I guess its on par with watching someone play video games.  You can sit there and watch only for a few moments and then you have to say something, because your brain is going to explode.  For example, they are looking for something to store CD’s in.  First, they type “CD”.  Now honestly, what are they expecting this to find them.  Google doesn’t read your mind and know you want a storage device.  Then they type “CD tower”.  Ok, possible closer, but all the results come up with none other than computer cases.  By now you want to scream “Type CD storage” or “CD storage rack”, at least something more specific, PLEASE.  This is usually when I run off and find something else to do rather than punishing myself anymore.
